A born and bred Berliner, Matthias Mueller has put down roots in China since his first assignment as Head of Marketing, Internet and Training Department at the German Chamber of Commerce in Beijing in 1998.

Already during his Master program Matthias Mueller spent time in China studying: 1990/1991 at Cheng Gong University in Tainan, Taiwan and 1995 at Hangzhou University in Zhejiang Province. He holds the German equivalent of an MBA degree [Diplom-Betriebswirt (FH)] from the Institute of East Asia Studies at University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen; besides German and English Matthias also speaks Chinese fluently.

In 2006 he was tempted away from his position as Director Marketing & PR with TUI China Travel Co. Ltd. in Beijing by the challenge of becoming Deputy General Manager at the German Centre Shanghai, and taking an active role in building the reputation of the then newly built office complex in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park as an address for successful German SMEs.

His accomplishments there - the contribution of his sales & marketing team keeps the German Centre Shanghai fully occupied since 2007 – have led Matthias Mueller into his next engagement: since 2015 he was Managing Director for the new German Centre in Taicang, Jiangsu Province. “I am driven by the challenge to adapt our successful concept to the requirements of German SMEs in one of the Chinese ‘boom towns’ around Shanghai. In particular, I do look forward to making use of my more than 20 years of practical management experience in China by testing them on modern business ideas and concepts”, Mueller says.

In April 2021 Matthias moved back and settled down in Berlin, Germany in order to establish his own company - MM China Link - which was launched on September 8, 2021.
